The authors of this National Socialist history textbook from 1941 challenge the view of history according to which the Enlightenment was a pan-European movement in the teaching module 'Die neue Weltanschauung setzt sich durch' (“The new world view prevails”). The text is in pursuance of the 1938 decree on “Education and Instruction in the Upper Schools”.

The present upper school textbook was reprinted in a second edition in 1941 following a previous revision in 1937/1938.¹ It was published by a small company, Quelle & Meyer, who specialised in botany and biology.² The authors, who were also the publishers, were Bernhard Kumsteller, a senior teacher from Berlin and author of many school [mehr...]
